Help yourself

Install & how-to guide

Everything from download to your first signed folder — so you never have to wait for a phone call to get working.

1 · Install

novel pdf studio runs on Windows 10/11 (64-bit) today; macOS (Intel and Apple Silicon) and Linux / BOSS OS builds are coming soon. Register in the download section (name, email, mobile — a 6-digit code arrives by email) and the links unlock for all platforms. Already a customer? Get installers any time from the customer portal.

  1. Windows: run novel-pdf-studio-setup.exe. If SmartScreen shows "Windows protected your PC", click More info → Run anyway — that notice appears for any new publisher and disappears as the app builds reputation.
  2. macOS: open the .dmg (choose Intel or Apple Silicon to match your Mac) and drag the app to Applications. First launch: right-click → Open to pass Gatekeeper.
  3. Linux / BOSS OS: download the .AppImage, make it executable (chmod +x or Properties → “Allow executing”), and run it.
  4. On first run, fill in the short registration (name, firm, email, mobile) — that's how we know who to help when you write in.

2 · Trial and activation

Every install starts with a 7-day clean trial: all features, no watermark, nothing uploaded. After 7 days, saving output locks until a licence key is entered.

  1. Get a licencesend an enquiry; your key arrives by email the same day.
  2. In the app, open Help → Licence.
  3. Paste the whole key and click Activate. Activation is fully offline — no internet needed, ever.
  4. Repeat on your second computer — every licence covers 2 PCs. Moving machines? Free a seat in the customer portal first.

3 · Sign with your DSC token

  1. Plug in your USB token (ProxKey, Watchdata, ePass2003, HYP2003…) with its vendor driver installed — the same driver you already use for MCA/GST portals. A .pfx/.pem certificate file works too.
  2. Open your PDF and choose Sign from the tool rail.
  3. Pick your certificate, drag the signature box where it should sit (or click a form's "to be digitally signed by" box), and enter the token PIN.
  4. Done — the signature shows your name with the green validity tick, and carries an LTV + RFC-3161 timestamp so it stays verifiable for years.

You can also verify any signed PDF (who signed, and whether the file changed since), remove stray empty "Sign here" boxes, and send a document to someone else with a marked box for their signature.

4 · Sign a whole folder on autopilot

  1. Choose Sign → folder signing and point it at the folder.
  2. Pick the certificate and signature placement once.
  3. Start — every PDF in the folder is signed unattended while you get on with your day. With a saved token PIN or a Windows-store certificate it needs no clicks at all.

5 · MCA forms

Dynamic MCA / LiveCycle e-forms that other viewers show as "Please wait…" open normally in novel pdf studio. Click the designated signature box to sign in exactly the right place, and use remove stray sign boxes to clean the leftover empty fields MCA forms leave over a signature — existing signatures stay valid.

6 · Compress under a portal limit

  1. Open Compress and choose target size.
  2. Type the portal's limit (say, 2 MB). The app even reserves headroom for the signature you'll add after.
  3. For scanned paperwork, the Business edition's Scanned (B&W) mode shrinks dramatically while text stays crisp; Business also compresses whole folders in one go.

7 · Everyday tools

  • Merge / split — combine files, or split by pages, ranges or size; reorder pages by drag-and-drop.
  • Edit text in place — double-click a line to fix a typo right on the page.
  • Annotate — highlight, boxes, whiteout, redact; stamps like DRAFT and CERTIFIED TRUE COPY; watermarks and page numbers.
  • Protect — AES-256 password; or remove a password you know.
  • Convert — PDF ↔ images, images → PDF, PDF → Word/Excel, OCR to make scans searchable, and compare two versions.
  • Smart Filing (Business) — drop in a mixed folder; the app detects MCA forms, GST, invoices, PAN/Aadhaar and files them into tidy folders, fully offline.
  • Workflow Automation (Enterprise) — an inbox folder your team drops files into; documents come back compressed, signed, stamped and filed, with an audit log and team approval routing.

8 · Manage your licence

Your licence key is your login. In the customer portal, paste it to see your edition and seats, deactivate an old computer to free a seat, and pick up your renewal discount code for upgrades and renewals.

FAQ

My USB token isn't detected.

Install the token vendor's driver (the same one the MCA/GST portal needs), replug the token, and restart the app. If the portal can see your token, novel pdf studio can too.

Is anything uploaded to a cloud?

Your documents? Never. Signing, compressing, converting, filing — all of it runs on your computer. The internet is used only for downloading the installer, the timestamp on LTV signatures, and a periodic lightweight licence check (with a generous offline grace — a machine without internet keeps working).

I bought a licence but didn't get the email.

Check spam first. Your key was also shown on the payment success page, and it's stored with us — raise a query with your payment ID and we'll resend it.

Can I move the licence to a new computer?

Yes — open the customer portal, deactivate the old machine to free a seat, then activate on the new one. Two computers can be active at once.

Does it edit text inside scanned pages?

A scan is a photo of text. Run OCR first to add a searchable text layer; in-place text editing applies to real (born-digital) PDF text.

What happens when my one-year subscription ends?

The app reminds you before the date. Renew by writing to us — existing customers get a discount — paste the new key, and carry on. Everything you created stays yours, always.
